Small-group songwriting and production workshops
Hands-on, outcome-driven, and taught by Federico Llach.
Meet your instructor
I’m Federico Llach — composer, producer, and educator from Argentina now based in Plano, TX.
I’ve written film scores, worked on multiple music releases, and had orchestral works performed internationally.
I currently direct the Commercial Music program at the University of North Texas, where I help students connect creativity, technology, and artistry.
In my courses, I emphasize creativity, collaboration, and technical skills, giving students the confidence to explore and express themselves in the studio.
Whether you’re just starting to write songs, curious about producing beats, or ready to craft a full track, these studio workshops will give you a clear, achievable path from idea to finished music
I’m excited to help you discover your own creative voice and bring your musical ideas to life.
Courses / Workshops
I meet each student where they are — whether you’re just starting out or already play an instrument — and use the skills you already have as a launchpad for new techniques. Courses are intentionally small (up to 4 students), which lets me give individual guidance while encouraging collaboration and community. I believe creativity grows fastest when you make things together and learn from real projects.

Discover your Sound
Song Lab I
Learn to turn your musical ideas into songs. We’ll explore songwriting and composition through hands-on exercises on melody, lyrics, and form — finishing with a short, original piece that reflects your ideas. We’ll tackle music foundation basics (harmony, rhythm) as needed for you to achieve your goal.
Studio 101
Focused on building a foundation for musical arranging in the digital domain, this course covers the building blocks of working with music production software (also known as Digital Audio Workstations, or DAW for short)
Build your Craft
Song Lab II
Write a song based on your ideas triggered by creative challenges — from your initial concept, you will refine your lyrics, strengthen your structures, and learn how to support your story with musical foundations. You’ll leave with a song feels authentic and intentional.
Sound Wizard
Focus on arrangement and production flow. Learn how to give your tracks movement and energy, using automation, layering, and dynamics to turn an idea into a full piece.
“Creativity isn’t about having the right tools — it’s about seeing the beauty in simple things”

For introductory courses (Song Lab I and Studio 101) there are no equipment requirements!
All essential gear and software will be provided in the studio for workshop meetings. Students will have access to professional tools for writing, recording, and producing music. We will use free tools for assignments. -
No purchase is required for the introductory courses. We use Ableton Live in the studio, but students can complete all class activities without owning it. If they’d like to continue creating at home, we can guide them through free or low-cost options such as BandLab, or Ableton’s free 90-day trial.
As students move into more advanced courses – or qualify into them based on experience – they will be guided through free or low cost options that they can maximize their potential, such as free online software or rent-to-own professional software. -
Not for the introductory sessions. All hardware needed for class will be available in the studio. For students continuing to more advanced levels, we’ll provide personalized recommendations for building a simple, affordable home setup.
-
Absolutely! If students already have a laptop or tablet they use for recording themselves or making music they’re encouraged to bring it. We’ll help them integrate it into the workflow so they learn to create using their own setup.
-
Just bring curiosity and a willingness to explore sound. Whether you play an instrument, write lyrics, or are completely new to music production, we’ll meet you where you are and help you create something original by the end of the workshop.
